Abstract

Crosses were made between L and S genotrophs of flax (Linum usitatissimum L) carrying different marker genes; hairy, hairless capsule (H-h), environmentally induced and already present in the genotrophs; pink flower (d), induced by ethyl methanesulphonate (EMS); and white flower (w), CO60- induced. w and d, apart from showing some instability themselves, appear to influence the stability or level of gene regulation in the genotrophs. The positive association which exists between plant weight and H-h disappears, or is reversed in their presence. h, d and w show some associations with plant weight. All associations may be due to partly associated changes in gene regulation rather than to classical linkage.
