Abstract

Syn seed were successfully produced by encapsulating non-embryogenic propagule apical buds excised from aspetic shoots of mulberry varirty-S54 (Morus indica L.). The syn seed were sown under non-aspetic condition in petridish containing different combinations of soilrite mix fortified with half strength Murashige and skoog s (MS) nutrients to study their response on in vivo regeneration. In the present investigation, it was found that peat: perlite: vermiculate (1:1:1 v/v) is the best soilrite mix for in vivo germination (92%) of syn seed when compared to other combination tried. The plants retrieved from the syn seed were successfully established in soil with 90% survival frequency.
