Abstract

Practical issues relating to the adoption of infrastructural or managerial adjustments to combating heat
stress are now issues applicable on regional basis and not visible globally. This is because some
studies relating to economic analyses have been carried out and these studies affirmed that a
categorical recognition of capital costs of cooling systems incurred during the periods of heat stress
predominance were missing. At present, critical estimates of the total economic losses of African
livestock industries and even the United States livestock industries (among others) attributable to
heat stress predominance cannot be correctly guaranteed. Although, such critical estimates could
enlighten the public as well as stakeholders in assessing the profits of investing in heat stress
abatement for different species of poultry. According to some, economic losses in broiler production
do not justify the additional cost incurred by heat abatement projects.
