Abstract
The best available estimate of 8640 days of low-ℓ BiSON data is used to constrain the evolution of Newton's constant over cosmic time. The effect of different chemical compositions and the impact of the theoretical uncertainties on the efficiency of the proton–proton (pp) fusion cross-section have been considered within a Bayesian approach. The resulting new helioseismic limit on the variation of the gravitational constant turns out to be $| \dot{G}/G{| }_{t={t}_{0}}\lt 2\times {10}^{-13}$ yr−1.
